Harish Rawat resigns as Congress in-charge of Assam
GUWAHATI: Harish Rawat, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, has resigned as Congress general secretary in-charge of Assam on July 4.
Rawat said that he was responsible for the below-par performance of the Congress in the parliamentary polls and had decided to step down from the post.
The resignation comes in the wake of Rahul Gandhi resigning as the Congress chief on July 3.
It is to be mentioned that in the parliamentary polls held in April-May, the Congress managed to win only 3 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam.
