GUWAHATI: Health minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a series of infrastructural development schemes on 12th September, amounting to Rs. 10,000 crores.

Under this scheme, the Assam government has approved the construction of four new medical colleges starting from December 2020 in Charaideo, Biswanath Chariali, Goalpara, and Guwahati.

The second medical college in the city will be a merger of the present Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) and the Kalapahar TB Hospital. The said project will presumably be the largest medical college in Eastern India, with 800 beds in MMCH and 500 beds in the Kalapahar hospital.

A 12 storeyed building is to be constructed at the premises of the present MMCH, facing the Brahmaputra river.

Assam government has approved Rs. 250 crores for the construction of the four medical college hospitals.

Appreciate the initiative. But it would have been better if the TB hospital and proposed MMC extension center would have been relocated near Boko Chaygaon or towards Sonapur Jagiroad. This I felt this from the perspective of futuristic expansion of the Guwahati city

The government ayurvedic hospital nearby Krishi vigyan kendra in dudhnoi is a haunted house...please convert it to a full fledged working hospital.
