Massive eviction at Amchang Forest Reserve leaves hundreds Homeless

A massive eviction drive was carried out by the Forest Department at Amchang Forest Reserve of Panjabarai area of the city. The officials had also used elephants to demolish the illegal constructions.

The police force had to use tear gas to disburse the agitators while they came out to protest against the eviction drive. Reportdly, residents viz Malati Das, Amina Khatun, Rachita Khatun and Gautam Baishya were injured during the protest.

On the other hand, one official photographer of the Forest Department named Utpal Patgiri was also injured during the protest.

The injured victims are currently under treatment. The eviction is still ongoing.
