Meghalaya Govt Declares Lockdown of Areas Bordering Guwahati
GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya government has decided to lockdown the locations in Meghalaya which border Guwahati due to the surge in Covid cases in Assam.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad K Sangma, said that areas like Byrnihat, Jorabat up to Khanapara will be under lockdown even as inter-state movement continues to be restricted.
CM Sangma has further directed the deputy commissioner to issue the necessary orders.
Notably, the Khanapara area of Guwahati bordering Meghalaya has a large number of liquor stores, which are better known as "Open Shops," and roadside dhabas.
