Mumbai Leaves Wuhan Behind in COVID-19 Case Numbers
GUWAHATI: Mumbai, the financial capital of India and the country’s largest city by population, has now crossed Wuhan’s number of the novel coronavirus disease affected persons.
The city crossed 51,000 cases, which is around 700 more than the highest number of cases recorded in China’s Wuhan which was the epicentre of the global pandemic.
Number of confirmed patients in Wuhan was 50,333 and the number of fatalities last stood at 3,869. In Mumbai, 1,760 pat
ients have succumbed to the virus so far.
Meanwhile, experts in the city heaved a sigh of relief watching the numbers in Dharavi fall as the curve flattens in the area which also happens to be Asia’s largest and most densely populated slum.
Maharashtra has recorded 90,787 cases as per the latest data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and is the worst-affected state by the disease in the country.
