NFR increases average speed of 25 trains, reduces stoppage time
GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has increased the average speed of 25 trains in a bid to boost the mobility of trains and enhance operational efficiency.
Addressing the media here in Guwahati, NF Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma stated that the stoppage time of 122 trains has also been reduced at different stations.
Sharma was quoted by Assam Tribune as saying: “The underlying proposition is that if we can reduce avoidable waste of time then we can run trains faster. With this aim, 25 trains have been ‘speeded up’ to reduce running time by average 23 minutes.
“Along with this, the stoppage time of 122 trains at different stations has also been reduced. Among these are 33 trains at Guwahati, 16 at Rangiya, 71 at New Jalpaiguri and 2 trains at Katihar.”
The NFR also has plans to reduce the running time of 10 more trains by an average of 24 minutes each in the next few months.
