NFR To Update Lighting In Train Coaches By Using LED Lights
GUWAHATI: To improve lighting in the interior of train coaches, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is planning to replace incandescent lamps and CFL lights with LED lights.
This initiative has been introduced as it would not only save energy, but also improve the lighting inside the coaches. It should be noted that by using LED lights, 40 percent energy saving is possible.
Up until now, 1890 coaches have been updated with LED lights and the entire process for all trains is scheduled to be completed by September 2019.
It should be mentioned that NFR has already replaced conventional lighting with LED lights in all its important stations such as Guwahati, Dibrugarh, NCB, NJP, KIR and Rangiya. These lights have currently been improved to ‘airport standard lighting.’
