No District to be Categorized as Red, Orange or Green Zone Until 200 Cases are Found Active: HBS
GUWAHATI: Although there has been a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in Assam, the state government has decided to not follow zone demarcation as specified by the central government.
In Assam, when a case is found to be positive, only that particular area is marked as containment zone instead of categorizing the entire district.
Speaking to the media regarding the same, health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "No district will be categorised as red, orange or green until 200 cases are found in one district."
He added that the state is adopting containment policy wherein after a case is found, district authorities visit the place and the nearby area is marked as containment zone. Additionally, the surrounding areas are marked as buffer zone.
No activities are allowed to take place in containment zone, while only limited activities are permitted in buffer zones.
In simpler terms, the containment zones can be seen as red zones while the buffer zones can be seen as orange zones.
