GUWAHATI: It has been alleged that an electronic voting machine (EVM) in Tezpur, Assam is faulty as every time a button was pressed on it, the vote went in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The incident was reported from  the polling booth in Rangajan, Godamghat Miri Gaon school in Tezpur district.

However, upon speaking to Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, Mukesh Sahu, G Plus found out that this was not true.

“These are all allegations and this is fake news,” said Sahu to G Plus. According to sources, all booths are constantly being monitored and no such incident has been reported to the EC officials.

The first phase of voting is underway in five Lok Sabha seats in Assam- Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituencies.
