NOTA gets substantial vote share in Assam

GUWAHATI: As per the latest trends of the Lok Sabha election results, NOTA (None of the above) option has seen a substantial vote share in a majority of seats in Assam.   

In the Dibrugarh, Nowgong and Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituencies, third highest number of votes were polled for NOTA, according to trends. Till now, the highest votes polled in NOTA across Assam is 12,160 from Dibrugarh. This was followed by 11,363 votes in Lakhimpur constituency.


Further, in a majority of the seats, NOTA option has received more votes than several candidates contesting elections.  

In Dhubri, NOTA received 4,837 votes making it the fourth highest votes polled among a total of 16 candidates who were in fray. Additionally, 3002 people voted for the NOTA option in autonomous district with 1.36% vote share. In Jorhat, Kaliabor and Karimganj too, NOTA received the fourth highest votes with 7938, 8899 and 2827 votes polled respectively.
