Over 10 Million COVID-19 Tests Done Across India so Far: ICMR
GUWAHATI: India has conducted over 10 million (1 crore) tests to diagnose COVID-19 so far, officials from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said, as the cases of coronavirus rose up to 6,97,413 in the country.
In the past 24 hours, about 1,80,596 samples were tested in the country with a total of 1,00,04,101 samples having been tested till date, said the official.
A senior ICMR official said, "In the last 14 days, average tests were 2.15 lakh (2,15,655) and in the last five days 1 million tests have been conducted respectively."
Meanwhile, Assam is in 4th place with 5 lakh tests set to be completed over the next few days.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa sarma wrote, "We will complete 5 lacs tests in next few days. Our faculties, scientists and lab technicians are working 24 hrs putting their life at risk. Hope some day people will recognise thiis selfless dedication of my team. Thank you @amitabhk87 for recognising my state."
