POS machines to be installed at 13 k train ticket counters
As an initiative to encourage the move of cashless transactions, Indian Railways will install card swipe machines at booking offices and all tickets reservation counters in all major railway stations.
Besides, POS (Point of Sale) machines will also be installed at suburban railway stations to help people purchase seasonal and monthly tickets by using debit or credit cards.
"There is a need to install card swipe machines at booking offices where considerable amount of transactions take place at a regular basis," said a senior railway officer.
To give incentives for online ticket booking, railways will offer free insurance cover up to Rs 10 lakh.
