Rajya Sabha Adjourned for the Day, Citizenship (Amendment) Bill not tabled
GUWAHATI: The contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which was set to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on February 12 will now have to wait for the next session.
It is to be mentioned that amid protests by the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party members, the house has been adjourned till 11 AM on February 13.
Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Vijay Goyal has, on the other hand, proposed that the Rajya Sabha Winter session could be extended till 15th February, if required.
Meanwhile, Chief Ministers of two northeast states - Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu and Manipur's N Biren Singh - voiced their opposition against the bill and urged Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to ensure it is not passed in Rajya Sabha.
