Serial explosions rock Assam on 71st Republic Day
GUWAHATI: As the country celebrates its 71st Republic Day, as much as 4 explosions have rocked the Upper Assam districts of Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sonari, Duliajan and Doomdooma.
A grenade explosion was reported from Dibrugarh which took place at Graham Bazar. Another was reported beside the AT Road Gurudwara. Local police is said to have reached the spot.
Other blasts were reported from Sonari area in Charaideo district.
No casualties have been reported, said police to media.
"We have received the information about the explosion in Dibrugarh. An investigation has begun, it is being probed that who is involved in this," said Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.
Initial reports have said that that these are grenade explosions and no casualties have been reported at this point.
