Sonowal calls for better Indo-Bangladesh relations to fight common terrorism
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday attended the 8 India Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue on Bangladesh-India Relations: Into a Brave New World, in Guwahati.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister spoke of shared culture, language & heritage of the two nations, and said that the historic Land Boundary Agreement has led to renewed ties. Highlighting poverty & terrorism as common enemies, the CM reiterated commitment for cooperation & coordination between the two nations.
Sonowal also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Act East and North East as new engine of growth will improve bilateral relations and prosperity. He added that Assam is an active partner in Indo-Bangladesh cooperation, especially in power sector. This has led to a mutually beneficial relationship.
The Chief Minister further added, bilateral dialogue to address issues like trade, river & air connectivity will bring in greater economic prosperity in the region.
