SUV Stolen From Busy Zoo Road In Guwahati
GUWAHATI: An SUV was stolen recently on the RG Baruah Road (commonly known as Zoo Road) around the busy evening time.
The victim and his family had gone to watch a movie in the City Centre Mall on GS Road. They have, however, alleged that the traffic police on the GS Road asked them not to slow down the car in front of the mall.
“The traffic police officials asked us to keep moving to avoid congestion on the GS Road and so my father decided to park the car in the mall’s parking from the Zoo Road side. But there too, at the authorities did not allow him to take the car inside the mall,” said Manpreet Kaur, victim’s daughter.
She added that finding no way out, her father parked the car directly opposite the mall on the Zoo Road. However, when the family returned after watching the movie around 9 pm, their car was missing from the spot.
They have filed an FIR in connection with the case at the Dispur police station and the police are conducting the investigation.
Speaking about the incident, DCP (Traffic) Prasanta Saikia told G Plus, “It must have been some misunderstanding. The traffic police objects if the vehicles stop at the entry point without giving indicator since it is a no parking area, otherwise we are happy if the vehicles enter the mall premises.”
