“Bangladesh attaches great importance with India as its most trusted neighbour. Both the countries share common social and cultural values and these need to be further encouraged with sustained interaction. This will facilitate sustainable peace and progress in the region,” said President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid while speaking at the dinner hosted by the Assam Government at a city hotel today.

g various development projects and stressed that connectivity projects undertaken by both the governments of India and Bangladesh were vital.
Governor of Assam, Jagdish Mukhi at the event said that there should be thrust on people to people contact by engaging students as Ambassadors of goodwill between both the countries.
“The relationship of Assam with Bangladesh is of great importance and priority for our Government. The bond that the people of Assam share with Bangladesh is very unique. It is a special relationship rooted in common culture, heritage, literature and language,” said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the dinner.
The Governments of the both the countries consider peace and stability as essential ingredients to realize the potential of the region and Sonowal appreciated the Bangaldesh Government’s cooperation in marginalizing the insurgency activities in the North East.
