Three member committee of SC judges to look into allegations against CJI Ranjan Gogoi
GUWAHATI: A 3-member committee of Supreme Court judges will look into allegations of sexual harassment made by a former employee against Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi.
The committee was formed on April 23 and will be led by Justice S.A. Bobde, the No. 2 judge in the apex court. Other members include Justice N.V. Ramana, the No. 3 judge in the apex court and Justice Indira Banerjee.
According to a report by The Hindu, the immediate objective of the committee is to contain the damage caused by the allegations to the judiciary and to streamline the court. The institution will also through a Full Court, come up with a mechanism to safeguard judges from external attacks and look into the accuracy of such complaints and allegations against members of the judiciary.
CJI Ranjan Gogoi
