Tokobari Barowari Durga Puja Committee to celebrate Platinum Jubilee this year
GUWAHATI: Tokobari, Barowari Durga Puja which was initiated with Rs 140, will complete 75 years this year. The budget of the puja this year is Rs 25 lakh.
The puja pandal will feature a Buddha monastery, is constructed with as many as 2000 numbers of bamboos along with wooden frame. The pandal will be decorated with leaves of Hogla tree, collected from Sundarban area of West Bengal. The artisans working on the pandal are from Kanthi of Medinipur district of West Bengal. Interestingly, the entire pandal will be eco-friendly.
The entire stretch of the Haren Kalita Path will be illuminated with lights brought from Chandan Nagar, West Bengal.
The idol of Goddess Durga will be prepared by Sanatan Rudra Paul, an artist from Kolkata.
The pandal is expected to open its gates three days before the puja.
