Toll Plazas in Assam to be Functional from Jan 10
GUWAHATI: As per the directives of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the highway maintenance and regulatory board, toll plazas at Dhalpara, Raha, Patgaon, Nazira Khat, Madanpur, Mikirati, Hawagaon and Manderdisa will reopen from January 10 in a uniform manner.
The toll plazas were previously shut down due to the agitation and protests by some organisations namely the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) among others.
To further the proceedings, Alok Kumar, Regional Office, North East Zone, NHAI has held a few meetings with the state government for smooth collection of charge from various gates. He also estimated that the total revenue collection from the tolls is likely to be around Rs 60 lakh per day.
NHAI has also mapped out plans to construct six new flyovers to simplify traffic obstruction at Basistha, Lokhara, Garchuk, Baihata Chariali and Baragaon.
