Two Arrested For Throwing Burning Cloth At An Elephant Causing Its Death
In a tragic incident, a 40-year old elephant died after some miscreants threw a burning cloth on it near Masinagudi in Nilgris district of Tamil Nadu. Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The elephant sustained serious injuries and succumbed to the same while efforts were being made to shift it to a facility for administering medical care, as informed by forest officials. A video of the incident went viral, whi
ch greatly enraged netizens, who demanded severe punishment for the culprits.
A few days ago the elephant was spotted groaning in pain near the Singara forest range by some locals, who then alerted the authorities. The officials, who reached the spot and tranquilised the elephant to take it for treatment, reported severe injuries on the animal's back and ear. The elephant, unfortunately, died on the way near Theppakadu.
Another video went viral, where forester Pollan is seen bidding a tearful adieu to the elephant. The video shows the forester gently stroking the elephant's trunk and saying, “Whom will I give (fruits) to hereafter?” Previously, Pollan had treated the elephant for other injuries that it had suffered.
