Two Assam Police jawans conferred with National Awards

GUWAHATI: Two Assam police jawans were conferred with National awards at Rajendra Bhawan in New Delhi on July 11.

The two jawans, Bishmita Likhak (Veerangana squad) and Huneshwar Bora, a 24th AP IRBN jawan, received the ‘Virangana Savitribai Phule National Award 2019’ and ‘Babu Jagjeevan Ram National Samman Award 2019’, respectively.

Bishmita originally hails from Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district and Huneshwar Bora is a resident of Kokapathar in Tinsukia district.

‘Veerangana’, India’s first female commando unit, was set up to tackle rising crime against women in Assam.
