GUWAHATI: Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar resigned from the Congress party on Tuesday.

“My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a means to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress,” stated the actor as per ANI.

It is to be mentioned that Matondkar was fielded as a Lok Sabha candidate by the Congress from the Mumbai North seat but she lost to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Gopal Shetty.
