GUWAHATI: The Trump administration has expressed concern over religious rights of citizens in India.
Remarks came in after major instances of violation of religious freedom across the globe were released by “2019 International Religious Freedom Report” on June 10.
The annual report to US Congress on International Religious Freedom, also known as the International Religious Freedom Report, describes the status of religious freedom, government policies violating religious belief and practices of groups, religious denominations and individuals, and US policies promoting religious freedom.
The report has signalled towards a rising trend in religious and communal violence in the Indian subcontinent than before.
The Indian government, in response to the report and remarks, said that the country is proud of its secular credentials, its status as the largest democracy and a pluralistic society with a longstanding commitment to tolerance and inclusion.
