G Plus News | August 28, 2018 11:53 hrs

A water leakage video in the baggage screening area of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, after the heavy downpour on Monday evening, has been captured by a passenger, which is doing the rounds on social media.

The video shows water flowing through the ceiling of the newly constructed wing of the Guwahati Airport.

B. K Tailong, Director of LGBI Airport, speaking to G Plus said, "Construction was going on in the particular area, and the shower was quite a heavy one, which led to water rush through the ceilings. No operation process was hampered due to this. We have repaired the ceiling within last night only."

Namita Konwar from Guwahati talking to G Plus said, "I am a regular traveler. For all these years, I have seen the airport in a shabby condition only. Considering that the affected wing in the video is just a few months old, the whole thing indicates a poor quality of construction. The ministry should set up an inquiry soon."

Awesome Assam !!!!!! Epitome of corruption. On 21 st evening I landed at our "international" airport with my father who is 80 yrs and had a hip replacement surgery a month back. We had travelled in businesses class to avoid inconvenience to him. After landing while proceeding towards the exit I was informed that the only LIFT at the airport was not working as it was out of order.I was shocked and on asking how will we go out, the Wheelchair assistant told me that they will LIFT the patient with the Wheelchair and use thr stairs. There where three people with Wheelchair In that jetairways flight. Finally after struggling for half an hour some how we managed to make it to the exit. Lighting the city and putting up big national flags do not make any city awesome or a grade.
