Wing Commander Injured In Sukhoi Crash To Be Transferred To Kolkata For Treatment

GUWAHATI: A pilot, Wing Commander P Sharnta, who had sustained injuries on Thursday, August 8 because of the crash of his Sukhoi 30 MKi aircraft at Pokhiajhar-Milanpur in Tezpur near Salonibari Air Force station has been transferred to Kolkata for further treatment.

It should be noted that the aircraft was carrying two pilots, Wing Commander P Sharnta and Squadron leader Ishant Mishra. The duo took off in their fighter jet from Salonibari airbase for a routine sortie mission when their jet crashed in a paddy field, injuring both the pilots.

Following the incident, the two pilots were rushed to the Army’s 155 Base hospital in the area with the help of locals. 

It should be noted that the entire area has been sealed off by security forces and investigation is ongoing to find out the reason for the crash.
