Wreckage of missing Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet found
The wreckage of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi fighter jet that went missing on May 23 has been found, but there is no word on its two pilots.
The Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet, which went missing near the China border around 60km north-west of the Tezpur airbase in Assam, was found close to its last known position.
The "air dominance" Sukhoi, being flown by a squadron leader and a flight lieutenant, took off in a two-aircraft form
ation sortie from the Tezpur airbase at about 10.30 am on May 23.
“Wreckage found. Close to the last known position of aircraft. As of now weather is bad and the place has dense foliage. Further update follows,” said the IAF in an official statement.
Four ground teams of IAF personnel, nine of the Indian Army and two of state administration, were deployed on different axis to scour the area.
